NRCS Partners with North Carolina to Improve Wildlife Habitat

Using the Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program (WHIP), the NRCS is partnering with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission's  Cooperative Upland (Habitat) Restoration and Enhancement (CURE) project to provide improved habitat for Bobwhite Quail.  The WHIP partnership with CURE leverages valuable contributions from the state and private sector and is producing important benefits for wildlife.  In FY02 more than 1,800 acres of wildlife habitat of was created on private lands through this partnership.  More than $140,000 in cost share funds were provided to assist farmers and other landowners install conservation measures that protect and improve wildlife habitat.
