Kuenzler Wildlife Habitat Preserve

One of the shallow pools constructed on the Kuenzler farm to provide wetland habitat

Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) funds have been used by the Kuenzler family in Orange County to help create a wildlife habitat preserve on the family's farm.  The project redirected water into a set of shallow pools and wet areas constructed on the farm.  These areas where then planted to native, wetland vegetation.

WRP provided funds for the restoration work and a permanent wetland reserve easement.  The remainder of the farm is under a conservation easement with the Triangle Land Conservancy.  The US Fish and Wildlife Service provided funds as well.
