Resource Conservation Cropping Rotations

North Carolina CSP Enhancement Activity

Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) Resource Conserving Crop Rotations North Carolina has identified its resource conserving crops to be used as an enhancement activity for the 2009 CSP. Below are the crops listed by specific categories:

 1)      A perennial grass, legume, or grass/legume grown for use as forage, seed for planting, or green manure:

      a)      Alfalfa
b)      Fescue
c)      Orchardgrass
d)      Orchardgrass/clover

 2)      A high residue producing crop:

      a)      Corn (grain)
b)      Wheat (grain)
c)      Barley (grain)
d)      Oats (grain)
e)      Sorghum (grain)
f)        Millet (grain)
g)      Rice (grain)

 3)      A cover crop following an annual crop:

      a)      All small grains (not harvested)
b)      Hairy Vetch
c)      Crimson Clover
d)      Buckwheat
