CSP Eligibility Evaluation

Each of the following questions applies to any land being offered for CSP. This could be as little as a single field or the entire operation.

□ Yes □ No □ N/A	Do you own or have control of the land you intend to enroll in CSP for the length of the proposed contract period? (5-10 years)
□ Yes □ No □ N/A	Do you apply nutrients (commercial fertilizer and/or animal waste) according to a plan or schedule based on soil or crop needs and do you keep soil test records?
□ Yes □ No □ N/A	Are you making pest treatments according to a plan or schedule that considers, as needed, insect thresholds, invasive species, weeds, and risks to the environment and do you keep records?
□ Yes □ No □ N/A	Are you using any method of reduced tillage, high residue crops or residue management on cropland fields?
□ Yes □ No □ N/A	Is the land you wish to enroll free of active gullies or other erosion problems?
□ Yes □ No □ N/A	Is livestock access to creeks, rivers, streams, and ponds, controlled to protect surface water?
□ Yes □ No □ N/A	Do you rotate your cattle and keep records of the rotation?

· If you have answered Yes or N/A to all the above questions, you should proceed to the Conservation Security Program: Self Assessment Workbook. This Self Assessment Workbook will provide further questions to help determine if your application is eligible for the CSP.

· If you answered NO to any of the above questions, it is unlikely that you meet the basic criteria for program eligibility. You may want to discuss the installation of conservation systems for eligibility in future years with a Field Office Representative.
