Small Farm & Limited Resource and Beginning Farmer Initiatives

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) Small Farm Initiative is a special effort to reach producers and landowners who may not have the opportunity to participate in EQIP due to size of their operation.  Smaller farmers often do not have the resources or size to compete with larger operations and therefore do not score high enough in the competitive ranking process to qualify for the program.

The program is open to landowners and producers with 150 acres or less of cropland, hay land, or pastures that they own, operate, or lease.  Woodland acres are not considered part of agricultural production acres for this initiative.
